*Note - The Vernal Equinox is the date in the northern hemisphere when the Sun crosses the celestial equator (declination 0) moving northward. Night and day are nearly equal and this date marks the beginning of Spring, thus, it is often called the Spring Equinox.

In the southern hemisphere, the center of the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving southward - it is often called the Autumnal Equinox, marking the beginning of Autumn in the southern hemisphere.

The Spring Equinox occurs Tuesday March 20 2012 at 1:14 AM EDT Washington D.C.   It's officially Spring and a time of celebration and new beginnings!

Happy Astrologers Day March 20!
Astrologers celebrate the New Astronomical Year when the Sun enters Aries.  It's not unusual for astrological groups to get together to celebrate and share their thoughts on what the new year will bring. This is an especially festive time with a Grand Earth Trine, and a Venus Jupiter conjunction in the 5th house.

The Spring Equinox chart has Sagittarius rising.  Jupiter rules the chart and is conjunct Venus in an Earth Grand trine with Mars and Pluto. There will be great philosophical and analytical discussion of the economy, and a good deal of political discussion regarding the 2012 Presidential election and the USA's involvement in foreign affairs.

In The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book IV, Kaye Shinker provides us with a table of what each planet and house means in a mundane chart.

Pluto in the first house
The first house in a mundane chart represents the People, and the Sun in mundane astrology represents the Government.  Pluto in the first house is square the Sun.  Change is demanded by the people, and the demands are resisted.  Public outcries and demonstrations are misunderstood and "not heard" because Mercury retrograde is also square Pluto.

Pluto is also involved in a Grand Earth Trine, sextile the Moon-Neptune conjunction in the third.  There is an unrealistic, overwhelming feeling of prosperity and power to the people.

Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces in the third house
The third house in a mundane chart has dominion over all forms of transportation and communications.  It has to do with the media, public opinion, neighboring nations, and weather in general.

Expect weathermen to have an even more difficult time predicting the weather with Moon conjunct Neptune! Neptune promises a very wet and foggy spring.

Will you be able to trust the media? With Neptune and the Moon influencing reporting, and with Mercury retrograde, I have my doubts they will report unbiased news. Don't believe what you read and only half of what you see and hear!

Mars RX in analytical Virgo opposes this conjunction and will result in petty discussions and much criticism of the media.

Sun conjunct Mercury and Uranus in the fourth house square Pluto
The fourth house is an angular house - which gives added thrust to the energies of the planets therein.  In mundane astrology it represents the opposition political party, natural resources, the land, and families. (Among the other things listed in Kaye Shinker's table of Mundane Keywords for Planets and Houses.  The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book III, Lesson Five).

Sun in the fourth square Pluto will mean much difficulty for the government in power.

Venus conjunct Jupiter in the fifth house
It takes Venus approximately 584 days to complete her orbital cycle through the zodiac.  And while Venus conjuncts Jupiter every year and a half (give or take some days), the conjunction of Venus in Taurus is a once in a 12 year phenomenon, as Jupiter's orbit through the zodiac is approximately every 12 years.  Randall Ashbourne has written a lot about this Jupiter conjunction with Venus in his Eye of RA Report.  From reading his reports you will glean a better understanding of how important this is in relation to what the stock market is doing today, as well as learning about Jupiter's cycle and its effects on Wall Street.

This conjunction is so favorable for the market - not just because Venus rules Taurus and has dominion over money, profit, financial gain, (among so many pleasurable material things, and things to do with revenue and the treasury!) - but because Jupiter brings to Venus in Taurus optimism and abundance, AND this conjunction takes place in the fifth house!

The fifth house basically has dominion over the stock market.  It's Wall Street's second home.  Here is where you find gamblers, speculators, stockbrokers, and investors.

Because Venus and Jupiter are having such an Unbelievably Good Time, even the weather promises to be nice!  Everyone is enjoying very unseasonably nice weather.  People are entertaining themselves at the theater, concerts, sporting events, and people and families with children are having loads of fun vacationing over Spring Break at resorts.

Mars retrograde in the 9th house
Astrologers think of the 9th house and immediately think of religious organizations, colleges, and government regulatory councils. However, according to Kaye Shinker, when looking at a mundane chart from an economic perspective, the ninth house has much to do with Corporations as well. (The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book III, Lesson Five).

From the 9th, Mars Rx is trine to both Pluto and the Venus-Jupiter conjunction. Here one can see the trine pattern complete - that Corporations - Dow Jones Companies - are making money for their investors (Jupiter-Venus in the 5th) and people (first house) are pleased when their portfolios look good.

However, Mars Rx also is opposing the Moon-Neptune conjunction in the third.  Mars in Virgo "fights" with words, and being retrograde can be very passive-aggressive. (And pretty petty at times!)  So we are seeing a lot of pettiness in the media.

Saturn retrograde in the tenth house
In mundane astrology the 10th house has a special connection to the Government in power - particularly the President, Prime Minister, or King.  Saturn is "afflicted" by the trine to Neptune conjunct the Moon in the 3rd.  Saturn, even in trine aspect, is never comfortable with Neptune's boundlessness. Saturn functions within boundaries, and appreciates rules that are not fuzzy and vague.  And even though the 10th house is Saturn's "home", you all know how it is when you are at home, influenced by a bit of Neptunian energy - totally relaxed, comfortable, shoes off.   This is not good news for President Obama.

Dates to look for: (comments on most particular planetary positions will be addressed in the New Moon Newsletters)

April 4 - Mercury Direct at 23 Pisces
As Kaye would say...YEAH!! Shopping.

90% of the time the Dow at the end of a Mercury Rx period is within 1% of where it was when the retrograde started.

April 6 - Super Full Moon
The Moon is perigee or at its closest point in its orbit around the Earth. Super Moons often predict natural disasters such as severe weather, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. Richard Nolle created the term "Super New Moon". Click through to his article and explanation of the term.

April 10 - Pluto retrograde at 9 Capricorn

April 14 - Mars direct at 3 Virgo

May 6 - Super Full Moon (see comment above regarding Super Moons)

May 15 Venus retrograde at 23 Gemini

May 20 Solar Eclipse at zero Gemini

June 4 Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 14 Sagittarius (see comment above regarding Super Moons)

June 11 - Jupiter Enters Gemini
Several weeks before Jupiter enters Gemini investors will begin to change the sectors where they are adding stocks to their portfolios. The Textbook for Financial Astrology Book 1, page 31 lists most of the products ruled by Gemini.  Textbook 4 will help you find the sectors favored by Jupiter’s transit of Gemini.  Discover what sectors will have an abundant supply and where there will be shortages.  All of the Textbooks for Financial Astrology contain lists of the sectors that will expand while Jupiter is in a particular sign.

June 20 - Summer Solstice
