Wiccans and other neo-pagans gather at Stonehenge to celebrate spring.
a long, hard winter we look forward to spring.
In anticipation, we move our clocks forward forcing additional
hours of daylight into the hours we are awake.
But who are we really kidding?!? Changing the clock doesn't make the day longer - it's the tilt of the earth and the movement of the Sun that brings forth longer daylight hours.
And it's the planetary lineup that paints the color of Spring.
The astrological energy in 2014 is powered by the Pluto - Uranus square. This spring it is exaggerated as Jupiter, the planet of expansion, sits on the Ascendant of the Washington D.C. Chart and opposes Pluto while squaring Uranus.
The nature of these planets and their signs are pitted against each other to force an outcome. The aspect is not just affecting the US, the influence is worldwide. It is quite understandable then, that the world has been embroiled in political and economic crises. (Draw a chart for your location to see what houses of the horoscope these planets reside in.)
The tension of Pluto - Uranus intensifies in April. Notice all the dates above marked in RED! These dates are when the tension is great. And, as Mars Retrograde aspects Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus the tension will be even greater. On the 20th of April, the Moon will conjunct Pluto, activating a developing Grand Square with Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus - exact on the 22nd of April.
With that in mind, let us look at the chart as the framework in which the transiting planetary aspects of the season act.
The 2014 Aries ingress
for Washington D.C chart above has the Sun placed in the tenth
house in Aries; very dynamic energy adds stress to this chart.
The Moon is in Scorpio and is the ruler of the Cancer rising
chart. It quickly moves toward a conjunction with Saturn in
the fifth house. Jupiter is on the Ascendant in a T-square
with Pluto on the cusp of the seventh house and Uranus in the
The Equinox Sun in the tenth house normally is favorable. However, Uranus resides in the tenth causing problems for matters of this house.
The Sun is exalted in Aries. In the tenth house it represents the "Boss" - the Leader, or the Man in Charge for the location of the chart - in this case, the President of the US. Without any hard aspects, this position should strengthen his prestige with added good will toward his government. However, Mars, the ruler of the Aries Sun, is in Libra - retrograde - a very unfortunate position for the Warrior Planet. Diplomacy is the best effort Mars can muster in this position; however, diplomacy is frustrated - and frustrating the President!
Uranus in the tenth house, square Jupiter and Pluto.
This presents troubles and the dynamic energy of this configuration is the cause of much difficulty for the President. His popularity suffers. This suggests a loss of power - if there were an election taking place this spring, the aspect would favor defeat. At a minimum, Uranus in the tenth house suggests some sort of unexpected change in the government.
Jupiter in Cancer on the
Ascendant, opposing Pluto and square Uranus.
Whenever a planet is close to the cusp of a house it has influence in both houses. Technically, Jupiter is in the 12th house, which is always a good position for Jupiter. Jupiter here acts as a protector of the community, and turns public attention to philanthropic movements, charities, hospitals, and institutions.
Jupiter's influence in the first house, when opposed by Pluto on the cusp of the seventh and square Uranus, suggests conflict and war. With Mars retrograde in Libra, perhaps just a lot of war-like talk. This is the natural house of Aries and Mars. Jupiter wants to take action - and have justice!
Jupiter is known as the Great Benefic, and is exalted in Cancer; even when in an unfortunate position and afflicted, matters seem to right themselves in the end - especially true when Jupiter is technically in the twelfth house and acting as "protector"!
Mars Retrograde in Libra in the fourth house.
The fourth house in mundane astrology rules the land - owners of the land, and workers on it. Agriculture, the weather, mining, real estate, housing, and the political party in opposition to the ruling government are under the rulership of the planets within the house, as well as the planet that rules it. Mercury, ruler of Virgo is in its detriment in Pisces, and is not in good condition conjunct Neptune.
This suggests a bad season for crops, as Mars (and Mercury in Pisces) does little to benefit any fourth house matters.
Earthquakes, fires and violent disturbances are connected with Mars in the fourth house.
The government in power becomes very unpopular - which is supported in this chart by the Uranus - Pluto - Jupiter square.
The Moon and Saturn is in Scorpio in the fifth house.
Not conjunct - wide by 5°41' - however, the Moon is moving quickly toward a conjunction with Saturn. The Moon moves 0.5 degrees in an hour, and before the end of the day it will be exactly conjunct Saturn. This aspect should not be read as a conjunction for the Equinox chart, but the aspect may initially impact the stock market negatively.
This aspect suggests a shadow of sorrow in the nation. Theaters and places of amusement will not be widely attended this season.
Elementary education and schools will become a national concern.
Pluto on the cusp of the seventh house - In a T-Square, this suggests great issues of power and control regarding foreign matters - even war-like talk as diplomacy flounders. The country is harshly criticized abroad, resulting in the possible loss of friendly relationships with foreign countries. Great expenditures are possible.
Venus in Aquarius in the eighth house - There will be an emphasis on foreign financial relationships and concern over the US commitments in international treaties. Venus works to preserve peace.
Mercury conjunct Neptune in the ninth house - Mercury in Pisces is in detriment. Neither focus nor clarity is its strong suit in Pisces as Mercury in Pisces acts instinctively - and when conjunct Neptune, even more so.
Wherever Mercury is found in the chart there is much activity in matters pertaining to that house. The ninth house has rulership over shipping, sea traffic, international communications, religion, churches, law and the courts, universities philosophical and scientific institutions, and publications.
Neptune in the ninth house conjunct Mercury suggests an increase of foreign traveling, trade, commerce and shipping. It also suggests loss of ships and lives at sea. This energy could be used resourcefully to uncover the mystery of the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.
